Reviewed: The Ordinary – HA 2% + B5 and Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

It has been a minute since I posted a skincare review but not to worry, Rosie Jo is kicking off 2018 in full swing with many reviews to come! Before getting into today’s review, Rosie Jo is now on Instagram – @rosiejobeauty! As an extension of the blog, I’ll be on Rosie Jo’s Instagram posting daily regimes, photos and mini reviews of my favourite products to be fully reviewed in depth here on the blog.

Shameless self promotion aside, today’s review focuses on the insanely hyped brand that is The Ordinary The Ordinary is a skincare brand that describes themselves as “the abnormal beauty company”. This is because they seek to deliver effective, potent and straightforward skincare ingredients without the fluff and without the steep price tag.

The Products: Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 | Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.

First off, this brand is crazy affordable. Like “how could this possibly be true” affordable. Both of the products I purchased were under $7CAD. In the world of luxury skincare where one small product can easily surpass $50, these prices are a breath of fresh air.

I would consider myself reasonably picky when it comes to daily moisturizers. The last handful that I’ve tried have either been not hydrating enough for my dry skin, have broken me out, or both. Together, these two products have become my go-to.

The Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 feels like a serum in texture. After cleansing and toning, I put 4 drops on my fingers and spread it quickly onto my face. As this starts to absorb, it becomes quite tacky so work quickly when applying then allow it to sit for about 30-45 seconds. After this, the tackiness is completely gone. This product on it’s own is quite hydrating, however it’s not enough for my dry skin.

Once the HA +B5 is absorbed, I’ll warm a small amount of the Natural Moisturizing Factors in my fingers and spread it over top. It has your typical cream texture, though I find it spreads best when warmed just slightly in the fingers first. This is a nice, hydrating daily moisturizer though again not enough on its own for my face in the cold Canadian winters, so the two products together are perfect for me for optimal hydration.

Primer and makeup apply nicely over these products which is a huge plus, I’ve had no issues with that. Though, the best part about this combination of products to me is that they haven’t broken me out at all. No breakouts, no clogged pores, nothing.

In all, these products are fantastic. Effective and affordable, I would recommend them to anyone looking for some new daily hydration.
